This is made possible by the Marshall Islands’ and Europe’s visa waiver agreement.

Citizens from countries with visa waiver arrangements with Europe will soon be asked to register online for a travel authorization ETIAS, which will go into effect in November 2023.

The ETIAS, which stands for European Travel Information and Authorization System, is Europe’s travel authorization system. Citizens from the Marshall Islands who wish to travel Europe for business, leisure, tourist, health, or transit purposes for up to 90 days will require an authorised ETIAS visa waiver connected to their biometric passport.

Since the ETIAS is not a visa, the application process:

  • Can be completed entirely online
  • Does not require visiting an embassy or consulate
  • Does not involve waiting in long lines

Furthermore, the prerequisites for obtaining an ETIAS from the Marshall Islands are straightforward:

  • A valid biometric, machine-readable Marshallese passport valid for the entire stay in Europe

  • A credit or debit card —to pay for the ETIAS issuance fees

Obtaining an ETIAS travel authorisation for Europe from the Marshall Islands will be simple and straightforward. El proceso de solicitud debería durar sólo unos minutos.

Marshallese passport holders will be able to fill out the form with the following information once the online application for ETIAS opens:

Important Reminder: It is recommended that the data supplied in the ETIAS application form for Marshallese citizens match exactly with the data written on the citizen’s passport. Marshallese nationals will thereafter be required to answer security and health questions as well as give contact information.

Questions about health and security are necessary to guarantee that the passenger does not endanger the health, security, or well-being of European Union inhabitants.

Contact information comprises a phone number and an email address, both of which are required to receive updates from the Marshall Islands on the status of the ETIAS application.

VIAJAR A EUROPA DESDE LAS ISLAS MARSHALL CON UN ETIAS

The ETIAS will not only allow Marshallese holders to access all Schengen countries, but will also allow them to travel freely between them for up to 90 days each 180-day term.

Every entry and exit in the Schengen Area will be recorded in the Entry/Exit System (EES) that is being implemented alongside the ETIAS travel authorisation. It is very important for Marshallese ETIAS holders to ensure they do not exceed the allotted 90 days within the Schengen Area.

The ETIAS travel authorization for Europe is a multiple entrance permit that allows Marshallese people to enter member countries several times as long as they do not remain longer than the authorised period.

Once granted, Marshallese nationals’ ETIAS will be valid for three years or until the passport used in the application form expires, whichever comes first.

When a Marshallese passport bearer fills out the ETIAS application form, their information is verified against numerous security databases, including:

Once granted, the ETIAS will be electronically linked to the passport used to apply. The Marshallese ETIAS travel authorization cannot be transferred from one passport to another, even if both belong to the same individual.

Due to dual citizenship, Marshallese passport holders who have more than one valid passport must:

  • Choose one passport to travel on —make sure it is eligible for an ETIAS

The ETIAS travel authorisation is valid for 3 years as long as the Marshallese passport used during the application process remains current.

A Marshallese citizen whose passport expires while their ETIAS is still within 3 years of having been issued will need to request a new ETIAS travel authorisation using the details of their new passport.

This can be done by filling out the ETIAS application form for Marshallese citizens with the passport number, issuance date and country and expiration date of the newly-issued passport.

The ETIAS permits Marshallese passport holders to visit all Schengen member countries for business purposes for up to 90 days in each 180-day period.

For instance, Marshall Island citizens who have committed minor offences may not be systematically denied entry into the Schengen Area.
