To strengthen border administration and security, the Schengen Area is implementing ETIAS (European Travel Information Authorisation System). Citizens of Mauritius travelling to Europe will be eligible to apply for ETIAS beginning in November 2023.
ETIAS REQUIREMENTS FOR MAURITIAN CITIZENS
Mauritius citizens do not require a visa to enter the Schengen Area. They can visit the region for tourism and business for up to 90 days in each 180-day period. France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Greece, Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands are all members of the Schengen Area.
Mauritian nationals will be able to apply for an ETIAS visa waiver online beginning in November 2023. It will become a legal necessity for Mauritius nationals and other visa-free visitors to enter the Schengen Area.
ETIAS is not a visa for Europe, it is an electronic travel authorisation, also known as a visa waiver. The ETIAS application is entirely online, it will not be necessary to go through an embassy or consulate. Applicants will need a valid Mauritian passport and a debit or credit to pay the ETIAS fee. An email address is also required to receive ETIAS status updates.
THE ETIAS APPLICATION FOR MAURITIANS
When completing the ETIAS application form, Mauritius citizens must supply the following information:
