ETIAS FOR MEXICANS
EUROPE TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS FOR MEXICAN CITIZENS
This website is not associated with or owned by the EU. The European Union’s official website is europa.eu.
Mexican visitors visiting Europe will be able to apply for a new travel permit, the European Travel Information and Authorisation System, beginning in November 2023.
This approach will make it easier for anyone to enter the European Schengen Area. It is also intended to strengthen border security, limit illegal immigration into Europe, and combat criminal activity. Once implemented, ETIAS will be valid for up to three years and numerous journeys of up to ninety days each.
TRAVELLING FROM MEXICO TO EUROPE WITH ETIAS
ETIAS will be operational beginning in November 2023. Mexican people visiting Schengen nations will be need to apply once it becomes mandatory.
Mexicans do not require a visa to enter the Schengen Area for up to 90 days, and this will not change with the implementation of ETIAS. ETIAS is a visa waiver or travel authorization for Europe, not a visa. Non-EU people, including Mexicans, who are visa-exempt, can continue to travel to Europe without a visa by registering online with ETIAS.
The ETIAS will be available to all qualified Mexican citizens wishing to visit Europe for up to 90 days. Mexican travellers must apply for a visa if their journey to Europe exceeds 90 days in any 180-day period.
There will be a cost for the ETIAS visa waiver for Mexico, which must be paid online with a credit or debit card.
ETIAS permits Mexicans to travel to all Schengen member states from November 2023:
- EU Schengen
- Non-EU Schengen States
- Non-Schengen EU States
Non-EU Member States:
Micro-States de facto part of Schengen Area:
Non-Schengen EU States
WHERE CAN MEXICAN CITIZENS TRAVEL TO IN EUROPE WITH AN ETIAS?
Mexican nationals who travel to the Schengen zone with an ETIAS will be allowed to enter all member states once they reach in their designated country of entry. Mexicans possessing ETIAS will be able to enter the Schengen zone and travel freely inside it for up to three months.
Mexicans can travel Schengen nations such as France, Germany, Spain, and Poland after arriving in their chosen state of entry. They will also be permitted to visit the four EFTA non-EU member nations, which include Iceland and Norway. ETIAS will also be necessary to travel to Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, and Romania, all of which are EU nations that are in the process of entering the Schengen Area.
ETIAS VISA WAIVER REQUIREMENTS FOR MEXICAN CITIZENS
The Europe visa waiver for Mexicans will allow visitors to enter Europe by land, sea, or air and travel freely across the EU zone with only one European travel authorization authorised before to departure.
Mexican citizens will require the following documents to apply for the ETIAS visa waiver:
- A valid Mexican passport
- Credit/Debit card
- Valid email address
All Mexicans travelling to Europe must have a passport that is valid for at least three months beyond their scheduled arrival date.
STEPS TO TRAVELLING TO EUROPE WITH A MEXICAN PASSPORT
Mexican nationals must complete a series of online processes in order to apply for the new ETIAS visa waiver system. They must first visit the ETIAS online application form. They will need to accomplish the following once they are open:
1. PROVIDE BIOMETRIC DETAILS:
Mexicans will be requested to give personal information such as their full name, maiden name (if married), date and place of birth at this phase of the registration process. They must also declare their Mexican nationality and gender. These will guarantee that the individual is properly identified and may simply pass through airport security.
2. SUBMIT IDENTIFYING AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:
Applicants must provide details from their Mexican passport. They must next provide their passport number, issuance date, and expiration date. The passport should be valid for three months from the date of entry into the Schengen Area.
3. INPUT UP-TO-DATE CONTACT INFORMATION:
The applicant must enter their current address in Mexico, a registered email address (which must be valid because it is where they will get their approved ETIAS), and a contact phone number.
4. DETAIL THE COUNTRY OF ARRIVAL INTO THE SCHENGEN AREA:
The ETIAS requires applicants to declare which Schengen member state they will visit first from Mexico. Visitors would be permitted to visit all Schengen member countries for up to 90 days once within the Schengen zone. Be aware that, for security reasons, the border officials of the nation where the applicant arrives will have the last word on whether or not they are permitted to enter the country and the Schengen Area.
5. ANSWER A NUMBER OF PERSONAL SITUATION QUESTIONS:
The applicant will be asked a series of questions about their educational history and present job position in Mexico in this part. These are designed to verify that candidates are not entering the Schengen zone in order to work in Europe with an ETIAS (this is not permitted with the travel authorisation).
6. COMPLETE A SELECTION OF SECURITY QUESTIONS:
When applying for an ETIAS, applicants will be expected to answer a variety of security questions in order to guarantee that the aim of improving border security in the Schengen zone is reached. They will be questioned whether they have travelled to active conflict zones and if they have a criminal record in Mexico during this stage of the application process. Mexican citizens will also be questioned if they have ever been deported from a member country.
7. INDICATE ANY FAMILIAL RELATIONSHIP WITH ANY EUROPEAN CITIZENS YOU’RE VISITING (OPTIONAL):
Applicants from Mexico may be requested to confirm their relationship to any EU residents or third-country nationals living in member states with whom they would be staying during their travel to the Schengen Area of Europe at this optional phase.
After you submit your application, the information will be reviewed against a variety of criminal, citizen, and informational databases. This procedure ensures that the applicant’s information is valid and that their data may be saved, cross-referenced, and communicated with the appropriate authorities, allowing you to join the bloc safely and securely. Among these databases are:
- SIS
- VIS
- EUROPOL
- SLTD (INTERPOL)
- TDAWN (INTERPOL)
- EURODAC
These systems will handle the application online, and it should be approved within a few minutes to a few days. Successful candidates will get their ETIAS through email after they have been authorised. It may then be printed and shown with a passport when entering the EU Schengen Zone.
APPLYING FOR AN ETIAS VISA WAIVER FROM MEXICO
In addition to the normal ETIAS criteria for Mexican nationals, anyone wishing to go to Europe from Mexico must apply for ETIAS online before leaving their home country. All qualified people will be able to apply for ETIAS through a quick, straightforward online process. Applying for ETIAS from Mexico should take no more than 10 minutes.
Before travelling to the EU or the Schengen Area, applicants must have their visa waiver application accepted. Once the system is completely implemented, you may be required to produce proof of valid travel authorization before boarding an aeroplane bound for a European location.
The ETIAS visa waiver for Mexicans travelling to Europe allows for multiple entries throughout its three-year validity period, allowing Mexican residents to visit Europe numerous times within those three years or until their passport expires, whichever comes first. When the citizen’s passport or visa waiver expires, he or she must apply for a new ETIAS before returning to Europe.
