ETIAS FOR SEYCHELLOISE CITIZENS
ETIAS EUROPE FOR SEYCHELLOISE CITIZENS
This website is not associated with or owned by the EU. The European Union’s official website is europa.eu.
Citizens of the Republic of Seychelles are not required to get a visa to visit European countries in the Schengen Area for short visits.
Nationals of the Seychelles will be able to apply for ETIAS travel authorization to visit any of the Schengen countries and territories visa-free beginning in November 2023.
ETIAS is an acronym that stands for European Travel Information and Authorisation System. This computerised visa waiver for Europe will pre-screen travellers for potential security hazards and improve the Schengen zone’s external borders.
Seychellois citizens must apply for ETIAS using an online application. The authorised ETIAS is electronically connected to their passport in a matter of minutes.
Travellers from outside the Schengen Area may file an ETIAS application for Seychelloise passport holders. Applicants can submit their applications using a desktop computer, a tablet, or even their mobile phone.
DO SEYCHELLOIS CITIZENS NEED A VISA TO TRAVEL TO EUROPE?
Seychellois people can travel visa-free to any Schengen country for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
ETIAS will be operational beginning in November 2023. Before travelling from the Seychelles to Europe, an ETIAS application will be required. This covers children and all passengers above the age of 70.
ETIAS is a visa waiver for visa-exempt international travellers, not a visa.
SEYCHELLES CITIZENS WILL NEED TO HAVE AN APPROVED ETIAS TO TRAVEL TO THE FOLLOWING COUNTRIES:
The following countries make up the Schengen Area, and will allow ETIAS holders entry and circulation between them:
- EU Schengen
- Non-EU Schengen States
- Non-Schengen EU States
Non-EU Member States:
Micro-States de facto part of Schengen Area:
Non-Schengen EU States
An authorised ETIAS visa waiver for Seychellois nationals is a multiple-entry travel authorization that permits the holder to stay in the Schengen Area for up to 90 days each trip during a 180-day period.
ETIAS from the Seychelles is valid for up to three years; there is no need to register for ETIAS before each journey to Europe.
ETIAS REQUIREMENTS FOR SEYCHELLOISE NATIONALS
The following are the ETIAS visa waiver requirements for Seychelles applicants:
- Passport valid for the entire stay in Europe
- Credit or debit card to pay the ETIAS fees
- Current email address to receive ETIAS status updates
Applicants with dual nationality who have numerous passports should use the same passport to complete the ETIAS application and travel to the Schengen zone. This is due to the fact that the authorised ETIAS for Seychellois people is electronically connected to a single passport.
ETIAS is valid for three years after it is issued, or until the accompanying passport expires, whichever comes first. If the traveller’s passport expires during the 3-year validity period of the ETIAS from the Seychelles, a new ETIAS application must be made from outside the Schengen zone.
APPLY FOR THE ETIAS AUTHORISATION FOR CITIZENS OF THE SEYCHELLES
Seychelloise citizens must fill out an online form with passport and personal details to apply for the ETIAS visa waiver.
The form should include the applicant’s full name, birth place and date, nationality, current address, and passport number, among other essential information. It is also important to enter certain travel details regarding the journey to Europe, such as the Schengen nation of initial intended entry.
Before submitting an ETIAS application for Seychellois citizens, applicants must additionally answer a few security questions relating to:
- Security information
- Criminal history
- Education and employment history
- Previous travel to Europe
- Previous travel to conflict areas
Before the ETIAS can be granted, all of the information submitted on the application is checked against European Union security databases such as SIS, VIS, Interpol, and Europol.
Seychelles people should verify that the information submitted on the ETIAS form is correct and matches the information in their passport. Errors are likely to cause ETIAS processing delays.
TRAVELLING TO THE SCHENGEN AREA WITH ETIAS FROM THE SEYCHELLES
Applicants are urged to submit an ETIAS application for Seychelloise passport holders well in advance of the Schengen zone entrance date.
The approved ETIAS travel authorization for Seychelles nationals is electronically connected to the applicant’s passport once it has been completed properly.
The passenger can then use the ETIAS-linked passport to board a flight or ship heading towards Europe. To obtain access into the Schengen Area, the passport must also be shown to immigration officers at a Schengen border crossing.
Visitors should be advised that an authorised ETIAS for Seychelles nationals does not ensure entrance into the Schengen Area. Border officers at the port of entry make the final decision on whether to permit access.
